Husqvarna Automower 330x

Husqvarna Automower 330x Review – There are some products that just look cool, and the Husqvarna Automower is one of them. When you unpack this mean machine, it’s hard not to stand in awe of it for a while. If Batman had to mow his lawn, this is what he’d use. setting up was a doddle. We did have a visit from the husqvarna dealer (this is normal customer protocol), but we set it up ourselves after his departure within around half an hour. And during our two-week test, it went out grazing every morning at 7am on the dot. The Automower 330X can cover up to 3,200 sq m, so on our 200 sq m test lawn it only needed around an hour to trim the grass.

After a week, we noticed a definite difference in the quality of our lawn – the 330X maintained it evenly, the carbon-steel blades doing a fine job. Yes, the Automower 330X is the most expensive mower in our test, but it’s undoubtedly the best-looking – and is packed with tech. There’s a weather timer in here, meaning the mower will maximise its cutting time during strong grass-growth times.

In dry weather it’ll reduce time, and in rain it won’t go out. It’s also got the normal bump sensors and on-board gps, meaning it will intelligently map your garden for a more even cut (and will find its way back to base without having to run along the perimeter wire). Thanks to its chunky wheels and powerful motor, we found the 330X handled any slopes in our test area with consummate ease. If you have a huge lawn, the husky has a rather nifty (and optional, we may add) feature.

Once a dealer has installed a gps comms unit with a SIM card, you can control the 330X by using an app downloaded from the app store (rather like the Bosch Indego Connect – which wasn’t available at the time of testing). so you can remotely tell it to start and stop, set timers and so on. It’ll even display its position on a map. Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s a mower of beauty.

Pros

  • Looks incredible. great, even cut.
  • Packed full of tech.
  • Excellent for large gardens.
  • Operates very quietly indeed

Cons

  • It’s the price of a small car
