CM Storm Ceres-500

CM Storm Ceres-500 Review – When it comes to gaming headsets these days, gamers are really spoilt for choice. We’ve reviewed our fair share of such devices, and for the most part, they are meant to be used with the PCs, but CM Storm has recently launched one that will work across the board with both the PC and gaming consoles that are currently out in the market right now.

CM Storm Ceres-500, One Sound Fits All

The Ceres-500 is a full ear headphone that’s designed to be quite unlike many CM Storm headsets we’ve reviewed in the past. The earpads are covered in a nylon mesh, while faux leather is used to cover the headband, which actually allows for comfortable usage for long hours without having to worry about the ear cups heating up or the band hurting your head. You can also adjust the headband’s tightness, allowing you to wear the Ceres-500 as you see fit.

This pair of headphones also comes with a detachable microphone which can be pulled up or down depending on whether or not you need to use it. Like many other gaming headsets, it also has in-line controls that allows you to control the headphone’s volume level, the microphone’s On/Off switch, chat volume levels and the PC/Console switch. The controls are a bit bulky, but it does come with a clip so you can easily access them when it’s attached to a piece of clothing. At the end of the cable is a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB cable, the latter is used to power the in-line controls of the Ceres-500. The 3.5mm jack can also be connected to TV audio ports at the back of consoles via the use of a splitter and converter which is included in the package. The Ceres- 500 supports consoles such as the Sony PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox 360. As far as audio quality is concerned, the Ceres-500 is one of the few headphones that we would recommend for a wide variety of usage scenarios.

The Ceres-500 comes with two 40mm drivers which outputs some sweet audio one can expect out of a gaming headset. Regardless if you’re playing games, watching movies or just listening to music, the Ceres-500’s audio quality is almost impeccable. It features a nice balance of high and mid notes, without leaving behind the lows, although the bass is a bit lacking. The 40mm drivers’ surround sound quality also makes it great for an immersive movie-viewing and gaming experience. The headphones also comes with activenoise- cancelling when plugged in, as you can hear just a bit of white noise that helps isolate the sound from the outside.

The CM Storm Ceres-500 is an all-inone portable audio solution if you’re a gamer who plays on both PC and gaming consoles. The sound quality is excellent, and the fact that it’s foldable makes it an easy device to bring around if you travel often.
