HTC Butterfly 2

HTC Butterfly 2 Review – HTC’s stable of high-end smartphones have been impressive lately as the HTC One M8 continued to wow critics and consumer alike, thanks to its all-aluminum build and excellent performance courtesy of the components it boasts. The HTC Butterfly 2 aims to do more of the same, but in slightly different ways.

Much like previous iterations of the Butterfly, the Butterfly 2 features a polycarbonate body that houses a 5.0-inch Full HD display, and is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 CPU, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage which is expandable via microSD up to 128GB.

The Butterfly 2 runs Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat out of the box, with the minimalist HTC Sense 6.0 user interface overlaying the operating system. With the recent announcement of Android 5.0 Lollipop, HTC has also stated that the Butterfly 2 will be receiving new OS updates alongside the HTC One (M8) and One (E8). Similar to the One (E8), the Butterfly 2 features a 13.0MP Duo Camera at the back, allowing users to not only take sharper and brighter photos, but allows them to refocus shots after taking photos, thanks to the depth sensor used in the Duo Camera system.

One of the biggest features HTC is pushing with the Butterfly 2 is the fact that it is IP67-certified for water and dust resistance. As if that’s not all, the Butterfly 2 is capable of this without the use of flaps like so many other brands do. HTC uses a special substance to help coat the insides of the ports to keep it waterproofed. The best part about this is that unlike most phone and tablet displays, water splashes do not affect the display, so you can use it as you would normally underwater.

Performance-wise, we have absolutely no complaints about the Butterfly 2. It performs any task that you can throw at it with ease, and even with so many apps running at the same time, it hardly lags at all, and the 2,700mAh battery ensures that no matter how heavy your usage pattern is, the phone will last you throughout the day.

As far as performance goes, the HTC Butterfly 2 is a great phone to look at and use, and its waterproof feature is a great selling point, if you’re looking to upgrade to an excellent high-end phone that can withstand the elements.
