Philips A5-Pro Professional DJ Headphones Review – It’s not very often that we get to play around with some of the more premium models out there in the market. Philips has been kind enough to pass us the Philips A5-Pro Professional DJ headphones, which was made in collaboration with celebrated DJ Armin van Buuren.

As expected from an expensive pair of headphones, the A5-Pro looks and feels like it was made to look good, and withstand some degree of abuse. The chassis of the headphone is made out of reinforced aluminium, which is then wrapped in leather to ensure comfort. The A5-Pro uses 50mm drivers which are engineered to be able to handle up to 3,500mW of power are used to ensure that no matter what kind of set up used, the headphones will be able to handle it all, which is especially perfect for DJs who tour often, and work with different audio setup every time. Swiveling earpieces on headphones are pretty standard fare for DJ headphones, but the collaboration with Armin van Buuren has lead to several quality of life improvements.

For starters, there are one 3.5mm audio ports on each side of the earpiece, which allows users to use either one depending on which is more comfortable for them. The second is that the headphones can be folded up for easy and compact packing, something that many people would definitely love.

As far as audio quality is concerned, the A5-Pro ranks as one of our favourites for music-listening. Marketed as a pair of monitoring headphones, the sound signature for these headphones are quite neutral, leaning towards the warm side of things, which makes the headphones great for listening to genres such as EDM, rock and even live albums, as the details pop out in such detail that it’s like a new listening experience even if you’ve listened to the same thing hundreds of times before. The audio separation of the A50-Pro is excellent as well. Some music listeners like to be able to listen to every single instrument used in a song, and the headphones provide that sort of listening experience without compromising audio quality.

The Philips A5-Pro headphones are engineered to look and sound awesome. The pricetag may be a bit too extravagant for most, but those who truly appreciate the look, feel and performance of a good pair of headphones will definitely like what the A5-Pro has to offer.
